Strength TogetHER 28 - My Dream

My Dream

Lokopakar in collaboration with Nexus Institute of Research and Innovation (NIRI) conducted a  donation drive a few months ago which has allowed us to expand our program “Strength TogetHER” to 10 different public schools all over the country. Nexus Institute for Research and Innovation (NIRI) is an independent and not-for-profit-sharing institution in Nepal, registered with a vision to promote quality research and innovation across the nation and beyond.

For this, we conducted  “Strength TogetHER” session on the topic “My Dream” at Shree Nandi Secondary School. Our first participant shared that she likes to dance and had been dancing since she was 8 years only, and dances every day too. So, she dreams of becoming a dancer in the future.  She dances to Nepali songs mostly but doesn’t have a favorite dancer.

Another participant shared that she likes to dance too and wants to be a choreographer like Cartoon Crew.

“I am not sure but I would like to be a police officer because in my village there are many thieves and there is no good police. I want to be a police woman and catch all the thieves there”, shared our other participant.

Another participant shared a similar dream where she wants to be a police officer because she wants to help others.

“I want to become either an actor or a police officer. My dream is to become an actor because my parents want me to be a police officer”, shared another participant. While other participants shared that she really wants to become a police officer but her father wants her to become a Nurse. She wants to be a police officer because she wants to help others and catch thieves.

Two other participants shared that they want to become a doctor because for one, she wants to save the patients and believes that the doctors give new life to them. The other participant shared that she wants to become a doctor because in her village there are no hospitals and to find one they have to reach Biratnagar which is extremely far. She wants to help the accident victims who need emergency care and save lives.

The other participants shared that they want to become a teacher with various reasons of their own. One wanted to be a teacher, since she believes all teachers are good and help students. She is influenced by Laxmi Ma’am and wants to be her. Others wanted to be teachers as they loved teaching and liked children as well.

We concluded the session saying that some people know what they want to be from a young age while it is also normal for aims and dreams to change with growth and exposure to new people, things and surroundings. And, sometimes some people don’t decide on anything until they become sure of what they actually want to be.

Despite those, the participants agreed that everyone should do their best on all subjects and stages of their lives and work hard as hard work and determination always pays off. Finally, we decided to respect and support each other’s dreams and help them in any ways we can.
